Huw Lougher

Huw Lougher is the Managing Director and founder of Lougher. With 20 years’ experience in the art market Huw is fascinated the art market and the power of art as an alternative investment.

In his early years collecting, Huw grew frustrated with the art market’s poor industry standards. This coupled with a desire to turn his passion into a career, Huw left his role in finance at KPMG and set up Lougher. With a mission to do things differently, his vision is for Lougher is to:

- become the market leader in the secondary market sale of editions by established contemporary artists; and

- be recognised in the international art market for offering a bespoke advisory service that supports its clients achieve their collecting goals, whilst encouraging them to enjoy all that the art market has to offer.

Huw is responsible for developing of Lougher’s strategy and vision. He also leads Lougher’s Private Sale team and acts as an advisor to high net worth clients.

He remains a passionate art collector, attending exhibition openings and art fairs regularly.

Huw specialises in works by Banksy, Yayoi Kusama and Damien Hirst.

Elliot Swiers

Digital Sales Director

Elliot spent over eight years in the commercial gallery sector, working as a gallery manager in Belgravia and later in consultancy for a leading firm in central London.

Elliot has completed an MFA in Fine Art and an MA in History of Art, specialising in Post-War German Art and Photography. He joined Lougher in 2018 to improve its digital experience for clients.

A passionate art collector, Elliot has deep knowledge of the market and advises clients on building their art collection, with a key focus on high value transactions.

Elliot specialises in works by Cy Twombly, Gerhard Richter, Tracey Emin and David Hockney.

Katrina Fray

Associate Director

Attracted to Lougher Contemporary’s commitment to transparency in the contemporary art market, Katrina joined the company in 2019. Katrina works closely with our consignors to realise the potential of their collections, drawing from her own experiences as a contemporary editions collector.

She oversees all acquisitions and Lougher Contemporary’s consignment offering, and she plays a big part in the development of Lougher's operational infrastructure. Katrina’s background is in live art archives. After studying History of Art at the University of Bristol, she worked with the university’s Theatre Collection and Arnolfini to catalogue their performance collections.

Jo Scholefield

Post-sales and Logistics Manager

Jo joined Lougher Contemporary as a sales assistant in 2020. Bringing her love of art to the role and a drive to deliver excellent client service, she's developed into a key member of the sales team.

Jo manages and cultivates client relationships, supporting with enquiries and buying at all levels. She handles all sales logistics and comms, working to ensure clients across the world receive their artworks smoothly. Having completed Christies' Art Law course and working in partnership with ArtAML, Jo's understanding of regulations within the art market supports her additional duties overseeing Lougher Contemporary's trade operations.

Hannah Scoltock

Consignments Associate

Hannah joined Lougher
Contemporary in 2022, and together with Katrina and Huw, has developed and grown our consignment service. Hannah is often the first person you’ll speak with in the consignments team. Using her knowledge of the editions market, with a focus on research and cataloguing, she supports our consignors throughout their selling experience and helps to build long-lasting relationships with our clients. This includes managing consignor enquiries, determining pricing and marketing strategy, and negotiating sales. Hannah also works closely with Bekkie to oversee the marketing of consignment artworks on our website and third-party platforms.

Hannah Jenkins

Operations Manager

Hannah has many years of experience in the art industry as a studio technician and art handler. She has worked in the Damien Hirst studio with the 3D fabrication team and has been involved in national and international exhibitions. She has also previously worked in museums and galleries in Bristol and Bath, with both classic and contemporary collections.

She joined Lougher Contemporary in 2020 as an art handler and is now our Operations Manager. Hannah feels like she excels in a dynamic workforce such as Lougher Contemporary and relishes the fluidity of the creative industry.

Bekkie Bury 

Marketing Associate

Bekkie studied History of Art at the University of
Bristol, graduating in 2020. Before joining Lougher Contemporary in early 2021, she volunteered in museums and galleries both in London and Bristol, and was on the British Museum’s Youth Collective.

Having spent time at Lougher Contemporary as an art handler and listings manager, Bekkie’s main responsibility is now to plan, implement and analyse Lougher Contemporary’s marketing activities, including being the company’s first point of contact and responsible for its presence on its 3rd party sales platforms and running our social media platforms.

Annabel Walker 

Acquisitions Associate

Annabel studied Fine Art at Bath Spa University and graduated in 2017. Prior to joining Lougher Contemporary in 2021, she was working as a self-employed artist and has exhibited in galleries in Cornwall, Madrid and Monaco. During this time, she also gained valuable experience as a studio assistant and working in the commercial gallery sector.

Annabel has been a key part of Lougher Contemporary's acquisitions team since 2021 where she manages inbound stock and logistics. Alongside the acquisitions Annabel now supports listings of latest arrivals and 3rd party platforms. She is also part of the advisory side of the business with her awareness of international logistics and complex acquisitions.

Fay Turner

Art Handler

Fay studied Fine Art at the Arts University of Bournemouth, graduating in 2017. Having previously worked as a Framing Assistant at Nelly Duff in London and at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Fay joined Lougher Contemporary in 2021.

Fay is our trusted art handler, and is responsible for condition checking all artworks that arrive at the gallery, and then carefully packing and arranging safe onward transit to you, our clients. Envied by the rest of the team, Fay gets to spend her days with the art we sell and takes great pride in making sure that the artworks packed in-house arrive with you in good time and in the same condition as it left us.

Rotary Club charities

In 2023 Lougher Contemporary proudly took part in The Bristol Dragonboat Festival. a vibrant celebration of teamwork, camaraderie, and community spirit, attracting participants and spectators alike from across Bristol and further afield. Organised annually by Bristol Rotary Club, this event brings together teams of paddlers from various companies to compete in exhilarating races along the scenic Bristol Harbour.

The event supports Rotary Club charities both nationally and internationally as well as a selected Bristol based charity each year. Last year Lougher Contemporary were awarded the Top Fundraising Team raising over £2,600. The selected Bristol based charity in 2023 were The Green House, a specialist support service for children, young people and families who have experienced sexual abuse.

Rugby On Everest

The LMAX Exchange Everest Rugby Challenge took place in April 2019, both as a significant fundraising initiative for the UK-based children’s charity, Wooden Spoon, and with the goal of setting two new world records: to play the highest game of full contact rugby and the highest game of mixed touch rugby in history.


Supported by a number of company initiatives here at Lougher, Huw’s fundraising efforts contributed to the team raising in excess of £200,000 for Wooden Spoon, all in aid of realising their vision:


Through the power of rugby, every child and young person has access to the same opportunities, no matter what their background!
