Whether you're refining your collection, making room for a new acquisition or simply curious about the value of an artwork you've owned for years, deciding to sell can feel like a significant step. Why Collectors Choose Lougher Contemporary

Selling artwork is about more than achieving the strongest possible price. Choosing who to sell with matters just as much. Collectors work with us because we combine specialist market knowledge with a genuinely client-focused approach, offering honest advice and tailored support throughout the entire consignment process.

We know the contemporary editions market inside out. Our team continually monitors collector demand, auction results and private sales to provide informed guidance based on current market conditions.

Transparency sits at the heart of everything we do. There are no upfront costs for our consignment service, and we provide clear information regarding pricing, commission and market expectations from the outset. We believe collectors should feel informed and confident at every stage of the process.

We also understand that discretion is important. Some collectors prefer to sell privately, particularly when consigning rare or sensitive artworks. In these instances, we can market works confidentially and will never disclose edition numbers or identifying information without your permission.

Collectors choose Lougher Contemporary because we offer:

• Complimentary, no-obligation art valuations

• Specialist expertise in contemporary prints and editions

• Tailored sales and marketing strategies for every artwork

• Worldwide client reach and targeted collector networks

• Confidential and private sale options

• No upfront consignment costs

• Rapid speed to market where appropriate

• Worldwide logistics and insurance solutions

• Dedicated support throughout every stage of the sale

• Prompt payment following the successful completion of your sale

Unlike many traditional sales models, artworks can often remain safely with you until a buyer has been secured. Our experienced team manages everything from marketing and negotiations through to logistics and delivery, making selling your artwork as straightforward as possible.

Current Demand Across Leading Artists

The contemporary art market continues to reward exceptional works by artists with established collector bases. Whilst market conditions naturally fluctuate, blue-chip contemporary prints and editions remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

At Lougher, we continually monitor market activity across galleries, private sales and auction houses to understand where collector demand is strongest. Although every artwork is assessed on its own merits, there are a number of artists whose editions continue to attract significant interest.

Other artists generating consistent demand include Bridget Riley, whose screenprints exploring colour and optical movement remain highly collectible; Andy Warhol, particularly his Flowers, Marilyn, Mao and Endangered Species portfolios; Jean-Michel Basquiat, whose authorised estate editions continue to grow in popularity; Keith Haring, whose bold Pop Shop and iconic figure prints remain enduring collector favourites; and Alex Katz, whose elegant figurative and floral editions have seen increasing international interest.

Whilst auction results can provide useful context, they only form part of the picture. Demand can fluctuate depending upon edition size, subject matter, condition, provenance and the number of comparable works currently available. The strongest-performing artworks are often those that combine rarity with realistic pricing and are presented to the right audience.

For this reason, every artwork we consign is assessed individually. Our recommendations are based upon current collector demand and market conditions rather than historical sales figures alone, ensuring you receive informed advice on the best strategy for selling your artwork.

Wondering Whether There's Demand for Your Artwork?

Collector demand can change quickly. If you're wondering whether now is the right time to sell contemporary art, our team can provide an up-to-date market assessment based on recent sales, current buyer demand and your artwork's individual characteristics.

Our Art Valuation Process

Receiving an accurate art valuation involves considerably more than comparing recent auction results. Every artwork has its own market position, and understanding that position allows us to provide realistic and informed pricing guidance.

When carrying out an art valuation, we consider:

• The artist and current collector demand

• Medium and edition size

• Condition and presentation

• Provenance and accompanying documentation

• Recent public and private sales

• Current market supply levels

• Your preferred timescale for selling

• The artwork's location and any logistical considerations

Our valuation process begins with good quality photographs together with details of the artwork, including dimensions, edition information and any accompanying documentation. Depending upon the piece, we may request additional images or videos to assess its condition more accurately.

Importantly, we don't believe in artificially inflating valuations to secure consignments. Unrealistic pricing can often prevent artworks from finding the right buyers, resulting in lengthy sales periods and missed opportunities.

Instead, we provide honest, market-led advice designed to achieve the strongest possible outcome whilst remaining commercially realistic.

Sometimes this advice may mean waiting before bringing an artwork to market. Building long-term relationships with our clients means providing guidance that reflects their best interests rather than encouraging immediate sales where they may not be appropriate.

Why Request an Art Valuation?

Not every enquiry results in a sale – and that's perfectly fine. Many collectors simply wish to understand the current value of an artwork they have owned for years or seek advice on whether now is the right time to sell.

Our valuations are complimentary, confidential and entirely without obligation. If we don't believe selling is currently in your best interests, we'll tell you.

At Lougher Contemporary, every consignment benefits from a tailored marketing strategy designed specifically for the artwork being offered.

I've consigned some artworks with Lougher Contemporary over the last few years and every time has been flawless. The friendly team are very professional and efficient. Always a fast response to emails and never any delays with payments, like you have with selling through auctions. Couldn't recommend them enough and wouldn't ever go anywhere else.
