Pumpkins

The pumpkin has been one of Yayoi Kusama's central subjects for decades, usually covered in her dots or set against a net of them. She has returned to it in paintings, prints and sculpture, and the works here span more than forty years. Numbers such as 'Kusama 301' refer to the catalogue raisonné of her prints. Lougher currently has Pumpkin (Kusama 6), a 1982 lithograph with collage; Yellow Pumpkin, a 1998 resin sculpture in an edition of 30; three screenprints in editions of 120: Pumpkin ST (2001), A Pumpkin YB-A and Dancing Pumpkin (YBL), both from 2004; and Pumpkin (NGV), a hand-painted zinc alloy pumpkin with perforated dots from 2025.
